This update provides a high-level overview of our recently published MISO Generation Asset Monitor (GAM) report and database for November, 2024.  The MISO GAM tracks the Interconnection queue in MISO for additions, forecasts plant retirements and plants deemed at risk of retirement, and provides an outlook for the timeline of renewable generation projects in MISO.

ESAI Power’s latest MISO GAM Update includes:

  • MISO Interconnection queue – status of all projects with an active generator interconnection queue in MISO.
  • MISO Capacity additions – including facilities that have commenced commercial operations, and upcoming additions – facilities that have commenced construction.
  • MISO Retirements – outline of units that have been deactivated in MISO.

Some of our new additions highlights this month include the Crossett Solar Energy Farm and the Liberty County Solar Facility both coming online in September, 2024.  RWE’s Casey Fork Solar facility has commenced construction.  Retirements have outpaced new plants commencing commercial operations this month.

Generation Asset MonitorTM  provides an outlook for the development timeline of new generation projects and plant retirements in ISO-NE, NYISO, PJM & MISO. For each project, ESAI assigns a “probability of completion factor in percentage terms” that is then applied to develop a forward assessment of likely capacity additions and retirements in each pool.

Generation Asset MonitorTM provides:

  • Forward assessment of likely capacity additions in PJM, NYISO, ISO-NE and MISO.
  • Details on all announced retirements and projections on all units at-risk of retirement.
  • GAM Database is published monthly and provides a summary overview of significant changes from the previous month.
  • For each RTO, ESAI provides project by project level details such as project status, queue numbers, project name, developer permit status, financing status, PPA status, and projected online date.
  • GAM has regional detailed estimates for renewable energy asset additions, fossil additions, and projects at-risk of retirement by year for each RTO.
